Carved & painted "Perkeo", dated 1895 on underside. Perkeo is a symbol of Heidelberg & was a court dwarf & jester in the employ of royalty / nobility in Heidelberg castle in the early 18th century & guarded a special castle of beer - hence the key around his neck. German, Late 19th Century.
